Inter-BPO volley opens Sunday
THE Davao Inter-BPO League (DIBL) Volleyball Tournament will open on Sunday 9 a.m. at the Almendras Gym Davao City Recreation Center.
DIBL commissioner Mark de Guzman, joined by Alorica representative Sherwin Maganda, bared this during the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum held at the NCCC Mall Food Cove Hall yesterday.
"For the love of sports, we initiated this volleyball tournament to provide a sporting avenue and promote healthy lifestyle and camaraderie among call center employees in Davao City," de Guzman said.
He said a total of 14 business outsourcing company (BPO) teams, 10 from the men’s and four from the women’s, will battle for the first DIBL volleyball title.
Early favorite Alorica will try to pull off surprises in the meet that is also participated by Conectys, Convergys, Ibex, Iqor, Next BPO Solutions, Offsourcing Philippines, Sutherland, Teleperfromance and VXI Felcris, SM City Davao and Robinsons.
Maganda, who is a former Davao Merchant Marine Academy College Of Southern Philippines (DMMACSP) varsity player and a former Ateneo de Davao University elementary volleyball coach, said the Balibolista de Dabaw-officiated tournament will be a good opportunity for former varsity spikers who are currently employed in BPO companies.
Alorica and Offsourcing Philippines will host the opening program that will be ushered in by a motorcade from Ibex in Lanang going to DCRC.
Sports Development Division-City Mayor's Office (SDD-CMO) officer-in-charge Mikey Aportadera will keynote the opening rites. ABM
