ACD stuns Addu for Dacs crown

-

THE Assumption College of Davao (ACD) Warriors stunned defending champion Ateneo de Davao University (Addu) Blue Knights, 95-68, to clinch the High School boys basketball title of the Davao Association of Catholic Schools (Dacs) Meet at the Philippine Women’s College (PWC) gym in Juna Subdivision, Matina, Davao City.

ACD, coached by Rolando Sancho, leaned on the services of BJ Sumugat, Leonard Salvame, Aaron James Royo, Krinz Penion, Alejandre Positos, Cris Vistal, Jory Velarde, Jones Zambano, Reuben Diuyan, Ezekiel Olubalang, Gabriel Lazarraga, Paul Malano, Carl Gudmalin, Aaron Lapating and Austene Talisayan.

Last year, the Blue Knights stripped the Warriors of their crown, which they held for five years.

"To be honest, the credit goes to the players. Kasi they don't want to lose and I just told the boys to respect every opponent specially Ateneo kasi proven na ang fighting spirit nila," Sancho said, adding that they had a good start and they worked on their defense.

As ACD team advances to the Davao City Athletic Association (Dcaa) Meet, Sancho eyes Addu players Marione Angeles, a 2017 Palarong Pambansa vetaran, Christian Bacalso, Joachim Weill, Kenneth Batilo and Andre Nebria to reinforce the team.

"I'm very positive na pwedeng makarating sa Davraa (Davao Regional Athletic Association) Meet ang Dacs unit pag magtulungan at magsuportahan and isa't isa. If we could play as one cohesive unit, I thing pwedeng mangyari," Sancho said. ABM
