6-peat for Ateneo booters

THE Ateneo de Davao University (Addu) Blue Knights retained its crown after blanking Gabriel Taborin College of Davao (GTCD), 4-0, in the finals of the Davao Associatio­n of Catholic School (Dacs) Sports Festival High School football tournament held at the Tionko field recently. The Dacs title was Addu's sixth straight.

The Alex Adolfocoac­hed Blue Knights, who already have five Davao City Athletic Associatio­n (DCAA) Meet titles, are eyeing a six-peat in the city qualifying for the Davao Region Athletic Associatio­n (Davraa) Meet 2018.

Miguel Francisco Royo, Antonio Fagel III, Kynan Andrew Dimaandal, Felix Karlo Dagatan, Joshua Jericho De Luna, Enrico Miguel Magno, Martin ROber Antepuesto, Martin Robert Martinito, Joseph Feliciano, Amir Andre Amaikurut, Ariff Aldwin Amaikurut, Nicholas Carlo Chavez, Leonard Michael Navarro, Naz Rafaelle Angelo Pascual, Raphael Cesar Balan, Marvin Carstairs So and Gene Vicente bannered Addu. Ruel Sasuman is assisting Adolfo.

The head coach said they will face tougher teams in the upcoming Dcaa Meet, thus, they have to prepare harder.

"Magdepende gihapon sa preparatio­n sa team. Taas-taas ang preparatio­n sa mga teams na muapil sa Dcaa mao maningkamo­t nalang ta (It will still depend on the teams preparatio­n. Teams entered in the DCAA meet has a longer preparatio­n, indeed, we will just strive)," Adolfo said in a phone interview with Sun.Star Davao.

He also said that it would be tough for them as only five Palaro players are still with the team while the rest are beginners or lack experience.

Addu's team topped the Davraa Meet 2017 but lost in the quarterfin­als of the Palarong Pambansa 2017 held in Antique Province.
