All set for PCCL Davao eliminatio­ns

THE green light is on for the staging of the Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL) Davao Region eliminatio­ns that will open on October 22 at the Almendras Gym Davao City Recreation Center.

Davao teams will vie for a slot to the Mindanao Finals set on November 23 to 26.

Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) executive program officer Ronel Leuterio led the coaches meeting at the Maharlika Room of The Royal Mandaya Hotel Monday along with SBP regional commission­er and tournament manager lawyer Francis Calatrava, SBP education committee Billy Cruzada and SBP consultant Macario Cabonce.

Rules of the tournament and format were tackled. Teams were then grouped into brackets after a drawing of lots.

Three games will usher the opening day.

The curtain raiser will pit Ateneo de Davao University (Addu) Blue Knights against STI College in bracket A to be followed by the games between Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC) Crusaders against University of Immaculate Concepcion (UIC) in bracket B, and Davao Merchant Marine Academy College of Southern Philippine­s (DMMACSP) Mariners versus Rizal Memorial Colleges (RMC) Bulldogs in bracket C.

Jose Maria College (JMC) Kings is also entered in bracket A while bracket B is also composed of St. John Paul College of Davao (SJPCD), Philippine Women's College (PWC) Patriots and Cor Jesu College (CJC) of Digos.

Agro-Industrial Foundation College of the Philippine­s (AIFCP) Sailors and Holy Cross College of Sasa (HCCS) are competing in bracket C.

The SBP-sanctioned league, supported by SBP regional director Glenn Escandor, will also stage a 3x3 event. ABM
