CHARGES were filed before the Davao City Prosecution Office against a man found possessing illegal drugs during a checkpoint in Barangay Licanan, Lasang, Davao City last Saturday, October 21.

Facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, is Noel Vidal Frigillana.

Prosecutor Joseph Mamburam found probable cause to charge the accused based on the complaint filed by Police Officer 1 (PO1) Ebenezer Ebdao, of the Bunawan Police Station.

In a resolution dated October 26, it said the accused was arrested after it was confirmed that item he dropped during the checkpoint was owned by him.

A member of the Philippine Army named Roy Pescador Madayan was manning the Task Force (TF) Davao checkpoint in Licanan when the accused was arrested.

The accused was among the passengers on board a public utility van. All passengers from vans and buses were required to line up for inspection at the checkpoint area of the TF Davao.

When the accused dropped an item, he was directed to pick up the item and surrender it to the authorities. The item was later tested positive for methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu.

The accused was then brought to Bunawan Police Station for proper disposition. ICT
