PRO 11 holds ‘Oplan Kaluluwa’ in cemeteries
Regional Office (PRO 11) director Police Chief Superintendent Manuel Gaerlan conducted a surprise inspection yesterday in various cemeteries in Davao City as part of their preparation for "Oplan Kaluluwa".
PRO 11 spokesperson Police Chief Inspector Andrea dela Cerna said in a statement that Gaerlan personally checked himself the security measures in place in various cemeteries to ensure that it is ready for the influx of visitor today.
"Together with other senior officers of PRO, PCSupt Gaerlan inspected said areas on their bikes to personally check deployment of personnel and security preparation/measures being implemented by our forces," she said.
Among the cemeteries Gaerlan inspected were Forest Lake CemeteryPanacan, Chinese Cemetery, Orchard Cemetery, San Pedro Cemetery, Roman Catholic Cemetery, Masonic Cemetery, Wireless Cemetery, Davao Memorial, Forest Lake CemeteryMaa, and Buhangin Memorial Cemetery.
She added that Gaerlan instructed high-ranking officials in Davao region to act as area Supervisors for each province in the region "to manage and monitor deployment and peace and order situation in real time".
"Unit commanders as well, were tasked to implement active defense against all possible threats in their area of responsibility by conducting police presence, security patrols, check points, intelligence and counter-intelligence operations to thwart lawless and terrorist activities," dela Cerna said.
Also, she said Police Assistance Centers and Assistance Hubs along major highways, are placed in cemeteries, airports, seaports, bus terminals, malls and resorts, in coordination with other other law enforcement agencies, Local Government Units (LGUs), and volunteer
groups to assist the public.
The Philippine National Police (PNP), likewise, reminded the public to be alert as "public safety is everybody's responsibility" and to follow the rules and regulation when visiting the public cemeteries to avoid inconvenience on their part.
"PRO 11 however, asks the public to be very vigilant at all times and report any suspicious bags/luggage, vehicles, personalities and activities to the nearest police station or security officers in the area," she said.
Dela Cerna reminded the parents to not leave their children as as well as their and bring jackets and umbrella in case of bad weather, at the same time, food and water to keep dehydrated.
For those who will visit cemeteries, she said they must secure houses before leaving and avoid posting your activities in social media to avoid possible break-ins/attacks.
Also, the public is reminded of the following items prohibited inside all premises of public and private cemeteries such as deadly or any bladed weapon, alcoholic drinks, playing cards, mahjong or gambling items of any kind, loud speakers/ stereo.
