528 prohibited items seized

THE Police Regional Office (PRO 11) recorded a total of 528 prohibited items that were confiscate­d by authoritie­s yesterday in different cemeteries in Davao region during the observance of All Souls’ Day.

PRO 11 spokespers­on Police Chief Inspector Andrea dela Cerna, based on their monitoring on the first day of

their “Oplan Kaluluwa”, they’ve recovered several prohibited items in various cemeteries.

Of the 528 confiscate­d items as of 2 p. m., there were 196 lighters, 21 bottles of beer, 11 bolos, six scissors, 97 grass cutters, five blades, 52 cutting tools, 20 cigarette packs, 22 sticks of cigarettes, four hammers, 4 butanes, 20 gallons of paint, eight speakers, two garden tools, one saw, one screw driver, three star screws, six trowels, four steels ( foot size), one chisel, 36 umbrellas, one guitar, one lawn mower, four knives, one steel tape and one scythe.

Authoritie­s reminded the public who plan to visit cemeteries today to follow the rules and guidelines that they set such as refraining from bringing of prohibited items inside all premises of public and private cemeteries like deadly or any bladed weapon, alcoholic drinks, playing cards, mahjong or gambling items of any kind, loud speakers/ stereo.

Meanwhile, Dela Cerna said different Philippine National Police ( PNP) units under PRO 11 establishe­d Assistance Hubs ( AHs) to immediatel­y address concerns of the public considerin­g the influx of people and respond promptly to any eventualit­ies.

PRO11 said that there were 16 AHs in Davao Occidental Police Provincial Office ( DOCPPO) with two police commission­ed oOfficers ( PCOs) and 46 police non- commission­ed officer ( PNCO); 32 in Davao del Sur PPO with 9 PCOs and 274 PNCOs; 40 in Davao City Police Office ( DCPO) with 29 PCOs and 635 PNCOs.

There were also 55 in Davao del Norte PPO with 12 PCOs and 286 PNCOs; 24 in Compostela Valley PPO with 11 and 125 PNCOs; 47 in Davao Oriental PPO with 10 PCOs and 212 PNCOs; 4 Aviation Security Unit ( AVSEU) with 5 and 44 PNCOs. For Regional Maritime Units ( RMU), there were four assistance hubs with 4 PCSO and 26 PCOS.

Also, a total of 3 AHs were put up by the Regional Highway Patrol Unit with three PCOs and 9 PNCOs.

Dela Cerna added that their personnel do not only strengthen their forces in cemeteries but also in major thoroughfa­res as there were also a total 248 of road safety marshals deployed in different cities, municipali­ties and provinces in the region with 16 PCOs and 2320PNCOs.

Yesterday’s observance was generally peaceful as there was no significan­t incident monitored. JCR
