Sara thankful for high rating

DAVAO City Mayor Sara Z. Duterte-Carpio thanked Dabawenyos as she received 90.87 percent satisfaction rating on the latest survey of University of Mindanao Institute of Popular Opinion.

The city mayor received “good, nearly superior” rating after a survey was conducted among 1,200 randomly selected Dabawenyos using a five percent margin of error and 95 percent confidence level.

“I am thankful of the confidence of the Dabawenyos on my administration,” she said.

The mayor recognized the latest UM-IPO survey as a tool to improve the local government as it also stated some recommendations for the city.

“I am thankful that this survey exists because it has suggestions on how to improve our work, our delivery of public service. I already asked for the submission of the suggestions to the city administrator’s office so (we can use it) when we plan for our activities for 2018-2019,” she added.

The UM-IPO survey gauged the awareness of Dabawenyos on city’s services as mentioned in detail during the State of the City Address of Davao City Mayor Sara. It also enumerated the city’s areas of improvement.

“I saw that the usual concerns were traffic and the concern on scholarship, so on the road issue those are things that we are solving. And we are on the same page with the people who saw this problem,” she said in vernacular.

She added, they are already pushing for the High Priority Bus System of Davao.

“We are really working hard to see it on the next three years,” she said.

She added that as to the issue of scholarships, they already revised the requirements for the students to maintain their scholarship.

Also among the suggestions which came from the survey aside from what the mayor mentioned were : more attention to far-flung barangays (information, budget and continuation of started projects) ; computerization of government system; support to senior citizens; subsidy to small farmers; improvement of drainage; reliable water supply and putting up water supply in Marilog; support to health centers through provision of equipment; support to micro enterprises and more livelihood trainings for the unemployed and non-working mothers; concern for the street-dwellers, i.e the beggars and children.
