Davao students join Asean Student Forum
BUSINESS Economics students Angelu M. Diaz and Romulo M. Sayon, Jr. from the College of Governance and Business (CGB) of the University of Southeastern Philippines (Usep) were among the 117 Asean delegates in the UTP-Asean Student Forum 2017 held at the Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP), Seri Iskandar, Perak, Malaysia on September 25-27, 2017.
Organized by the UTPAsean Student Organization, the three-day UTPAsean Student Forum gathered students and top intellectuals from leading universities and colleges in the Asean region. By creating a platform for discussion on the implications of the Asean Integration Initiative, the international forum focused on reinforcing the Asean identity. It also helped in establishing linkages among Asean students in order for Asean communities to become one diversified entity.
With the theme Youths of Today, Leaders of Tomorrow. Ideas of Today, Changes of Tomorrow, the 28 Filipino delegates were assigned with topics on Economy, Politics, Social, Environment, and Media. Diaz and Sayon joined the group of Youth and Economy.
Among the activities in the forum were the Voices of Asean, a public speaking segment; Keynote address form star speakers and topical speakers; Topical debate; Town hall meeting where the participants, grouped according to nationality, discussed possible acceptable solutions on issues concerning their country’s constitution, laws, culture, etc.; Resolution preparation and presentation; Team building activities; and Gala dinner.
