GMA, ABS-CBN to highlight twins in new TV show

“Sirkus”

The country’s giant networks, GMA and ABS-CBN, are set to premiere new shows which will highlight the life of twins. Is this the newest trend now?

Based on the two stations’ respective announcements, these latest offerings will both premiere this January.

In a statement, the Kapuso Network revealed that a fansteserye will start airing on January 21 at 6:10PM. This could be their move to strengthen their Sunday programming, right? And probably, to also have their own signature show that may compete directly with the Kapamilya Network’s child-oriented program “Wansapanataym.”

In “Sirkus,” two of today’s promising young stars, Mikee Quintos and Mikoy Morales, will play twin siblings Mia and Miko, reapectively.

Based on the information released by GMA, the fraternal twins “find themselves in the company of a travelling circus called Sirkus Salamanca after trying to escape from the hands of an evil villainess. On the road, the twins will discover secrets about their new-found family as well as their own identities.”

For the show to be more realistic and to depict a regular sight inside a circus, it will feature a magician, fire-breather, an acrobat, a strongman, and clairvoyant.

Joining the Best New Female TV Personality at the 2017 Star Awards for TV and the “Protégé: The Battle for The Big Artista Break” finalist are veteran actor Gardo Versoza, who will serve as their figure and leader of Sirkus Salamanca; Andre Paras as the lovable strongman Martel; Chariz Solomon as the quirky clairvoyant Astra; Sef Cadayona as the funny acrobat Al; and Klea Pineda as the gorgeous fire-breather Sefira.

Making “Sirkus” even more interesting is the portrayal of wellrespected actress Cherry Gil as the vengeful villain La Ora. Meanwhile, Zoren Legaspi and Angelu de Leon will have a special participation as Miguel and Liza, the twins’ parents.

“Sirkus” is created by program manager Angeli Atienza and directed by internationally-acclaimed writer-director Zig Dulay.

“Sana Dalawa ang Puso”

While GMA’s upcoming program will be aired on a weekend, ABS-CBN’s “Sana Dalawa ang Puso” will be shown from Monday to Friday, under the station’s PrimeTanghali block.

The show is a reunion project for Jodi Sta. Maria and Richard Yap. Adding some spice and twist to the expected romance between them will be Robin Padilla.

Set to be aired on January 29, the Kapamilya actress will portray dual roles, as Mona Bulalayaw and Lisa Laureano, who look identical. Amid their appearance, these characters live two totally different lives: Mona is living simply, while Lisa is a sophisticated woman living up to her position in the corporate world.

In the meantime, Robin will give life to the character of Lisa’s worker Leo Tabayoyong, while Richard is her family rival’s son Martin Co.

Among the members of the cast are Christopher de Leon as Juancho Laureano; Alma Moreno as Lena Bulalayaw; Edgar Mortiz as Ramon Bulalayaw; and Boboy Garovillo as Miguel Co.

At the helm of “Sana Dalawa and Puso” are Rory B. Quintos and Mae Czarina Cruz-Alviar.
