2nd Tapang at Malasakit fun ride a great success
THE 2nd Tapang at Malasakit Fun Ride ended on a high note with some 500 participants joining the 27-kilometer ride in an out-and-back course from Rizal Park, Davao City yesterday.
The riders pledged their support to the Duterte administration most especially to Davao City Mayor Sara DuterteCarpio.
Sports Development Division-City Mayor's Office (SDD-CMO) officer-in-charge Michael Denton Aportadera, who represented Davao City Mayor Sara DuterteCarpio, joined other participants.
At the finish line, Aportadera delivered the keynote message of the mayor, saying, "On behalf of the city government of Davao, I would like to commend the Citywide Cycling Association (Cicad), the Davao City Sports Consumer Cooperative (DCSCC) and the Solid Duterte Supporters Group (SDSG) for initiating this event."
The mayor, in her statement, said pedaling, whether rain or shine, towards the finish line reflects "how we also remain strong-willed amid various socio-economic roadblocks in the ride towards sustainable development. With this, allow me to express my heartfelt gratitude for your continued support to President Rodrigo Duterte amid the various challenges that have emerged. It is my hope that your support will remain just as solid until the end of his term."
Her also urged riders, saying, "Padayon ta sa pagsikad. Padayon ta sa pagpanaghiusa (Let us keep biking, keep uniting)."
Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) commissioner Charles Raymond Maxey was also in attendance.
The fun ride was spiced up with exciting games that gave away bike accessories, among others.
Raffle winners also went home with a Mosso XC MTB Triple Butted Aluminum Frame courtesy of Cicad, an FSA cockpit set and handle bar from Sikad Tambayan and 42'' Wiga TV provided by PhilCycling auditor Jovita Tan.
The event was presented by Cicad in partnership with Games and Amusement Board commissioner Mar Masanguid.
