PSC-PSI Sports Science Series seminar kicks off

ILOCOS SUR - As competition starts in the Palarong Pambansa 2018 in different venues here today, the Philippine Sports Commission and Philippine Sports Institute (PSC-PSI) will also kick off its five-day Sports Science Series seminar in Baluarte here.

PSI deputy director Marlon Malbog said, ôExperts from different fields are resource speakers. Schedule of the topics will vary every day to allow coaches and sports leaders to choose the best time that suits them considering the hectic schedules of the games in the Palaro.ö

Today, Dr. Pilar Elena Villanueva will first tackle ôFirst Aid in Sportsö at 9:30a.m. to 10:30 a.m. before Maria Daniela P. Santos talk about ôPerformance Assessment on Childrenö from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon.

Afternoon session will feature ôThe Psychology of Coachingö by Denise Ang at 1 p.m. followed by ôSports Nutrition for Filipino Youth Athletesö by Ashley Villa and wrapping up with ôMovement and Performanceö by Nathan Futalan.

ôThe Sports Science Series is part of PSC-PSIAEs coaching education program and we have conducted in other parts of the country, too,ö Malbog added.

Certifcates will be awarded to all participants.

The PSI will also conduct talent identification to winners in the Palaro for elementary and secondary athletes.
