-

KORONADAL CITY – In its bid to ensure that all dog and cat population received an anti- rabies vaccination ( ARV), South Cotabato is giving out free ARV since the Department of Agriculture downloaded more vaccines in the province recently because of the increasing number of human rabies cases in the last three years.

However, the Provincial Veterinary Office announced that the free ARV is until the DA’s supply lasts.

According to the approved ordinance, ARV for dogs and cats cost P50.

Meanwhile, animal vaccinators of the provincial government partners with the barangay council through the Barangay Animal Health Workers in the conduct of house- to- house campaign rabies vaccination to accommodate more animals.

The team is in the town of Lake Sebu since last month until May 21 to vaccinate dogs and cats.

Mary Ann Tumilap, dog vaccination in- charge, said the team vaccinated at least 2000 dogs and visited eight barangays in Lake Sebu as of April 30.

At present, the PVET team has conduct dog vaccination in 13 barangays and is set to visit more barangays in Lake Sebu until May 21.

PVET is focused on animal birth control and Anti- Rabies Vaccination as the most convenient and most effective strategies to cut down the incidence of rabies among animals and humans.
