-

AN alleged big-time pusher was killed in a shootout yesterday dawn during an anti-illegal drug operation conducted by authorities at Purok 16, Barangay Madaum, Tagum City, Davao del Norte.

Noli Nephi Dimaandal, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (Pdea 11) information officer, said that they are relentless in their operations to weed out and stop the proliferation of prohibited drugs.

“To suppress the supply of illegal drugs in Davao region, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 11 fulfills its mandate as more drug perpetrators fall in the hands the law,” Dimaandal said.

Agents from Pdea 11 together with Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB), Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU), Tagum City Police Station, Davao Norte Provincial Mobile Force Company (DNPMFC), Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU 11) and Davao del Norte Criminal Investigation and Detection Team (DNCIDT) implemented a search warrant at 3:30 a.m. against the target identified as Jay-ar Abayon Tulod.

During the operation, the drug suspect resisted arrest and withdrew his firearm and attempted to fire it towards the direction of the arresting officers.

“During the implementation of the search warrant, Tulod pulled his .38 revolver and exchanged gunshots with the operatives which resulted to his death,” he said.

Tulod was rushed to the nearest hospital for medical treatment but he

was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Authorities likewise recovered 55 grams of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride commonly known as “shabu” with a street value of more or less P660,000, assorted drug paraphernalia, and the .38 revolver with live ammunition. JCR For full story visit www. sunstar.com.ph/davao/)
