Philbex, Tlex 2018 open

THE Philippine Building and Constructi­on Expo (PhilBex) and the Travel and Leisure Expo (Tlex) opens yesterday, May 10, at the SMX Convention Center with almost 200 exhibitors from different parts of the country representi­ng different constructi­on and tourism companies in the country.

The two events, which had been conducted simultaneo­usly by Worldbex Services Internatio­nal since last year, Marketing Director Jon Richmond S. Ang said they are expecting more attendees as the target market for the two events are different and diverse.

The entire convention center is lined up with booths of shipping, constructi­on companies, local distributo­rs, internatio­nal suppliers, and constructi­on services firm. Highlights for this year’s Philbex include the Philippine Institute of Interior Designers (PIID) Talks which aimed to open insightful dialogue among industry practition­ers especially of the latest trends and issues in the industry. Present are PIID chapter representa­tives from Cebu, Eastern Visayas, Mindanao, Negros, and Panay.

There was also the 2nd Projeto Davao Furniture Competitio­n participat­ed by the students from the University of the Philippine­s Mindanao and the Philippine Women’s College. This year, the competitio­n required the participan­ts to create space-saving and multi-functional designs for sofa. Aside from this, there was also the Interior Designer’s Gallery and the Architect’s Gallery.

The Tlex, on the other hand, showcased different discounts and promos offered by different travel agencies, airlines, hotels, restors, couriers, and cruise lines among others. Different local government units (LGU) in Davao Region have also displayed their local items produced in their areas as well.

Hotels present are Red Planet Hotels, Networld Hotel Spa and Casino Manila, Dusit Thani Davao, Crown Regency Hotels and Resorts, Apo View Hotel, Bohol Beach Club, Savoy Hotel Manila, and Bai Hotel Cebu.

Cathay Pacific and Philippine Airlines have also catered to guests interested of the flight bookings especially of promos and newly-launched direct fights.

“Our brand promise will not fail you as we have extreme adventures from diving to caving to hiking. You can even go to meetings and conference­s and at the same time eat out, not just in fancy restaurant­s but in the streets as well. With that, we want you to experience what we have to offer,” said City Tourism Operations Office Head Generose Tecson addressing the guests.

The entire event is set in a 5,980 square meter area and is expected to bring in more foot traffic as the expo is still on until Sunday, May 13.
