CEBU-BASED restaurant Café Laguna is making a comeback in Davao City as it opens on Friday, May 18, its newest branch located at Azuela Cove in Lanang.

As the first restaurant to open in Azuela Cove, a 25-hectare masterplanned-estate located at Km. 7, Lanang, Davao City, Café Laguna promises quality food Dabawenyos will surely love.

Laguna Group founder and Chief Executive Officer Julita P. Urbina told reporters yesterday that the company is quite aggressive in opening more branches in Visayas and Mindanao because of the spike of developments especially in the food industry.

“I was surprised when I came back few months ago. I find it very vibrant especially the business community. That is why I was enticed by the Ayala to come back here,” she said.

It can be recalled that Café Laguna had a franchise in Abreeza Ayala Malls before but was closed due to issues with the contractor.

“This new branch (in Azuela Cove) is companyowned. We are known for our quality food, that is one reason we came back in Davao, we want to revive our quality. We are back and we are back with more (to offer),” she shared.

The restaurant is known for its Filipino cuisine offerings such as Kare-kare, Crispy Pata, Fresh Lumpia, and delicacies like Puto Bungbong, Suman and Bibingka.

For the Davao branch, which has 100 seating capacity, it will offer special Davao flavors and offerings.

These are Bibingka with Malagos Cheese, Tuna Sinigang, Tuna Kinilaw, Crispy Tuna and Davao Harvest Platter with Durian, Mangosteen and Pomelo.

The restaurant will also feature PD30 Mongo Soup Tribute served with Pogapo Fillet Crisps.

“We also had a corner in the restaurant that will showcase Davao signature products,” Urbina said.

Café Laguna started as a small merienda store in Cebu in 1994, today it has over 10 branches in Visayas and Mindanao. For Mindanao, aside from Davao, it has restaurants in Cagayan de Oro City and General Santos City. The management is also opening branches in Bacolod and another one in Cebu this year.

The Café Laguna in Azuela Cove opens daily from 10:00 a.m. until 10 p.m.
