THE King's Sword Martial Arts (KSMA) will hold its summer clinic culmination and the National Wushu Sanda Tournament today at the Brokenshire Resort and Convention Center in Davao City.

This was bared by KSMA chief Nell Jone Astudillo during the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum held at The Annex of SM City Davao, Thursday.

Astudillo said the event will gather participants of KSMA's summer clinic from M’lang, North Cotabato, Tagum City and Davao City.

"We will have small presentations and awarding of certificates," he said.

The national wushu sanda tournament, meanwhile, will feature different disciplines from various martial art clubs including mixed martial arts and Gan Soo Doo.

"This event is our preparation for the bigger activity in July," Astudillo said pertaining to the third Mindanao Open Wushu Sanda Championships that will serve as the basis of selection for the upcoming Batang Pinoy 2018 National Championships in September in Baguio City.

Astudillo also said that to hone athletes’ skills, there should be regular tournaments for them to exercise what they have trained for.

"This is why we keep on holding wushu sanda tournaments because I would also want to propagate the sport in Mindanao," the veteran coach said.

Astudillo, also president of American Bushido Karate (Abka) in Davao City, will hold an Abka tournament on the same day.ABM
