Tagum’s new SK leaders take oath
TAGUM CITY—Newly-elected officials of the Sangguniang Kabataan from the 23 barangays here have taken their oath of office following their attendance to the mandatory training required by the SK Reform Act.
No less than Mayor Allan L. Rellon administered their oath of office, which comes at a historic time after more than four years of vacuum in the youth council in the barangays.
The local chief executive challenged the youth leaders to become partners of the City Government of Tagum in pursuing meaningful development in the barangay, especially on matters affecting youth and children.
The mandatory training, which is in line with the pilot implementation of the SK Reform Act or Republic Act No. 10742, covered modules on decentralization and local governance, SK history and salient features, how to conduct meetings and craft resolutions, how to do planning and budgeting, and code of conduct and ethical standards of a public official.
The training was facilitated by the Department of the Interior and Local Government, in coordination with the LGU’s Local Youth Development Office.
Meanwhile, Sangguniang Kabataan chairpersons will be electing their officers on May 29, 2018 for the SK City Federation, the elected president of which will be sitting as an ex-officio member of the 7th City Council.
