Green Film Festival continues in SM

-

A MORNING of learning happened in SM Lanang Premier’s Cinema 2 last June 19 as the Green Film Festival (GFF) continued its efforts to educate students on the environment and climate change.

GFF is a joint initiative of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB), SM Cares and the SM Cinemas, in cooperation with the Department of Education and Commission on Higher Education.

Students enjoyed viewing documentaries, short films and videos from DENR and its various bureaus, offices and attached agencies. Various environmental topics—from climate change mitigation and adaptation, biodiversity conservation, air and water pollution prevention, to solid waste management, sustainable and eco-friendly schools— were discussed in the shorts.

GFF not only showcased the beauty of our planet but also taught the value of preserving our environment and natural resources.

The Green Film Festival is one of the many initiatives of the DENREMB, in compliance to Republic Act 9512 or the National Environmental Awareness and Education Act of 2008, which is now on its 10th year enactment.

The GFF will happen again on August 14 and October 9 in SM City Davao. For inquiries and bulk seating reservations for schools, please call 297-6998.
