Drug suspect dies in bust

AN ALLEGED notorious drug pusher was killed in a shootout with policemen on a drug buy-bust operation in a lodging inn at Sitio Bagsak on Naraval Road, Calinan, Davao City, Saturday evening, July 14.

The Calinan police identified the suspect as Jason Cadayday, of legal age, a resident of Barangay Tamugan, Marilog District.

Members of the Calinan Police Station in coordinati­on with the Philippine Drug Enforcemen­t Agency (Pdea) in Davao Region initiated the drugbust operation at around 11:33 p.m. in a lodging inn at Sitio Bagsak after receiving a tip from an informant.

Police said, Cadayday pushed the buyer and drew a gun from his waist to shoot when he sensed that it was a trap.

He was shot instead. He died of multiple gunshot wounds in his body. Recovered from his possession aside from the plastic sachet of suspected shabu, was the caliber.38 revolver bearing serial no. 33298 loaded with three unfired cartridges.

The Scene of the Crime Operatives (Soco) also recovered from the crime scene one fired cartridges, three deformed fired bullets and one fired cartridge from a .9mm caliber.

Cadayday was declared dead on arrival at Calinan General Robillo Hospital. The Soco then brought the cadaver of the suspect to Angel Funeral Homes in Calinan District for the fingerprin­ts and paraffin test. ICT
