Tesda, equipment firm to sign MOA

Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) will sign a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Monark Equipment Corporation on August 22, 2018 to further strengthen the National Competency on construction-related courses in the country.

“Tesda cannot do this alone, Tesda doesn’t work in isolation. We need the help from the private sector,” Engineer Lorenzo Macapili said during the Kapehan sa Dabaw at The Annex of SM City Davao yesterday.

He also said that to strengthen the National Competency in the country, they need assistance from private sectors like Monark Equipment Corporation, D.M. Consunji, Inc. (DMCI), Davao Constructors Association Center Inc., among others.

“Laborers are different from highly-skilled construction workers,” Macapili said, adding that the private sectors will allow those who will enroll in Tesda to be able to use heavy equipment from Monark Equipment Corporation after the signing of MOA for a more focused-training to be able to produce highly-skilled workers.

Meanwhile, Macapili disclosed that they lack trainers so they are also asking the private sector to train trainers.

“We are coordinating with the constructors group and industries to personally train,” he added./
