Religion: The path to salvation?

There are more than 4,300 religious sects from the main religions; all teaching to live a life based upon God’s infinite design. For us humans, we can never be perfect though we are supposed to be created in God’s image.

- DANNY ABRIGO

For 25 years I was disconnected to the church where I was contrived to Christianity and studied theology, naïve to dogmatic parents.

During those years of being a freethinker, I was disturbed with profound emptiness this world can’t satisfy.

My inquisitive mind cannot resolve which among the mushrooming sects will satisfy my desire of belongingness until one day my adventurous feet brought me to an assembly of Sabbatarians.

Like a famished wayfarer I wanted to absorb every word of preaching the speaker spew. So much has been said, so much has been written and quoted, but my seeming endless inner debate about religion and man’s beliefs was answered when the pastor cited the life of mother Theresa to emphasize that the secret to being happy is doing service to others.

Mother Theresa was a Roman Catholic nun whose life story was chosen by an Adventist preacher, a well-known opponent to Sunday worship.

There I learned a practical point of view; keep away from the dogma or siding with any religious doctrine.

There is no need to find the unadulterated church for salvation. It is not found in places or palatial structures, it is found deep in the hearts of every God-fearing individual.

There is no doubt about the existence of God, the supreme being. Even the scientists believe that there is a supreme being who does the magnificent engineering of the universe. And what matters most is how each one relates with Him.

There are more than 4,300 religious sects from the main religions; all teaching to live a life based upon God’s infinite design. For us humans, we can never be perfect though we are supposed to be created in God’s image.

No religion can rightfully claim that they are the only way to salvation.

They can only be compared to the major superhighways to heaven, while what we do with our daily lives and communications with God through our prayers are our expressway to him.
