The families of the 14 coconut firm employees who were killed during an accident in Barangay Astorga in Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur last June 3, 2018 will receive more benefits and livelihood assistance this month.

Albert Bantan, information officer of Employee’s Compensation Commission (ECC) Unit 11, during the Connect press conference at SM Lanang Premier yesterday, said that they will give cash assistance on September 25 to the families of the Franklin Baker Co. employees who figured in a car crash last June.

“We are going to have a press conference at the Marco Polo and at the same time give additional cash assistance to the families of the deceased,” Bantan said.

“We have given them P45,000 for funeral benefits alone, wala pa’y labot ang ilang pension nga madawat (We have given them P45,000 for funeral benefits alone, not including the pension that they will receive),” he added.

Bantan added that the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) may provide additional livelihood assistance as well.

He also said that they have an upcoming awarding this year for the workers who went through amputation due to work-related accidents. /
