Six Davao Ten­pin Bowlers As­so­ci­a­tion (Datba) mem­bers reap medals in the Asia Pa­cific Masters Games 2018

The six-mem­ber Davao Ten­pin Bowlers As­so­ci­a­tion (Datba) col­lected a to­tal of 13 gold medals, seven sil­vers and one bronze at the close of the Asia Pa­cific Masters Games 2018 ten­pin bowl­ing com­pe­ti­tion held in Pe­nang, Malaysia.

Datba bowlers James Young, Crys­tal Chavez, Tans Ber­nas, Manny Nierra, Al Langkuno and Ab­sa­lon 'Rommy' Ser­rano Jr. led the medal haul.

Philip­pines har­vested a to­tal of 21 gold medals, nine sil­vers and five bronzes.

Young won four golds while Chavez bagged three golds and a sil­ver in their re­spec­tive events.

Ber­nas and Nierra, mean­while, each got two golds and one sil­ver while Langkuno an­nexed one gold and one sil­ver.

Ser­rano, for his part, sal­vaged a sil­ver in 60 years old and above cat­e­gory af­ter bow­ing to for­mer Philip­pine Team Ge­orge Man­ioso.

"His­tory ito! Mahi­rap na maulit ito sa next 2020 Asia Pa­cific Masters Games sa Korea," Ser­rano said on the coun­try's per­for­mance in the bi­en­nial bowlfest.

The Datba vet­eran said he hopes their as­so­ci­a­tion be rec­og­nized by the Philip­pine Sports Com­mis­sion./
