SECURING UNDAS

In preparatio­n for the upcoming Undas Season, more than 6,000 security personnel from different agencies in Davao City are to be deployed in cemeteries and the terminal for better security

There will be a total of 6,570 security personnel to be deployed in the private and public cemeteries and the Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT) from October 30 to November 4, 2018 to ensure safety following the high number of people expected to visit the graves of their deceased loved ones during the Undas Season.

“The commitment of the security cluster is to provide appropriat­e security sa tanang sementeryo, be it public or private,” Angel Sumagaysay, Public Safety and Security Command Center head, said yesterday, October 18, 2018, during the I-speak media fo-

He added that the involved personnel are from the Davao City Police Office, Central 911, City Transport and Traffic Management Office, Office of the City Economic Enterprise and Developmen­t, Civil Security Unit, Bureau of Fire Protection, Regional Intelligen­ce Committee, and Davao City Public Safety Command Center.

More personnel will be deployed in DCOTT two days earlier as the city expects more people to arrive at the time.

On October 30, 330 personnel will be deployed; October 31, 1,360 personnel; November 1, 2,010; November 2, 2,010; November 3, 630; and on November 4, 230 will still actively ensure the safety of the public.

“Kung medyo daghan, naa pa gihapon tay reserves [personnel] ani (If there will be more people than expected, we still have reserved personnel [that could assist],” Sumagaysay said.

“Ayaw mo og expect na perfect na ang implementa­tion but ginahimo sa security cluster ang tanan (Do not expect for a perfect implementa­tion, but the security cluster is doing everything),” he also said, adding that they will impose maximum tolerance. /
