Police eye drones to warn vs ambuscades

-

Manila -- The Philippine National Police (PNP) will include in its operational procedures the use of drones to avoid being ambushed by the enemies.

PNP chief Oscar Albayalde said at least 700 drone units are about to be distributed to police offices nationwide. “That is part of surveillance dapat, lalong-lalo na ‘yung mga ambush sites na ganyan. Remember yung mga ambush sites high ground ang ino-occupy ng mga kalaban so hindi mo naman kayang akyatin yan before ka dumaan doon, not unless meron kang mga pauunahing mga tropa,” he said.

(The enemy usually occupies the high ground. Unless we send troops ahead, we need drones to survey the site.)

“So you can use the drone actually you can deploy the drone at least ilang meters away bago mo dadaanan ‘yung critical area na ‘yun napaka-importante isang deterrent yan, kahit walang kalaban jan pag nakita ng iba na may nagpapalipad ng drone I think mabubulabog yan,” he added.

(We can deploy the drone at least several meters before we pass through a critical area to deter any surprise attack. If they see a drone, the enemy will think twice.)
