Friendly game for a cause
Everything is set for the Fun Golf for a Cause: 1st Friendly Golf Game for Persons with Special Needs today at Apo Golf and Country Club, Inc. in Bago, Davao City.
Registration is at 5 a.m. while tee off time is at 6 a.m.. The awarding is at 1 p.m. after lunch.
Registration fee of P3,500 is inclusive of green fee, lunch, snacks, freebies, certificates, prizes and allotted emergency stations.
Organizers, in a statement furnished to SunStar Davao yesterday, said the tournament is a joint collaboration of the Davao Golf Club for Persons with Special Needs, a team of registered occupational therapists Lovely Mae Aquino, OTRP, Joann Bausin, OTRP, Daryl Borja, OTRP, Marinar Fe Latada, OTRP, Cionelle Pauline Sy, OTRP and Denise Nicole Gernalin-Virtucio, OTRP and golfers Manuel Alba, Rodolfo de Guzman and Vicente Tionko.
The golfest is also being held in cooperation with the Sunrise Therapist Solution and Cebu Doctors’ University Graduate School – Masters of Arts in Occupational Therapy (MAOT) Program.
Organizers said the event aims to promote re-engagement to a meaningful occupation for golfers with disability and to use the gentleman’s sport as a means of rehabilitating patients with physical disabilities; to advocate occupational justice and increase public awareness of the need to make establishments more PWD-friendly; to raise funds to subsidize the rehabilitation of less-privileged individuals with physical disabilities and for the establishment of NGO for PSN golfers and continuation of the same project and advocacies. /
