Unit 1 lords over its rivals in the Davao City Athletic Associatio­n (Dcaa) Meet 2018 arnis competitio­n

Philippine National Games (PNG) triple gold medalist Glennon Jhon Malisa led Unit 1’s domination in the Davao City Athletic Associatio­n (Dcaa) Meet 2018 arnis competitio­n at the Davao City National High School (DCNHS) that ended yesterday.

Unit 1 harvested a total of 20 gold medals and two silvers to emerge overall champion in the secondary division. Unit 2 hauled two golds, nine silvers and eight bronzes for second place while Unit 3 (0-9-4), Unit 4 (0-0-6) and Unit 8 (0-0-6) trailed behind.

Malisa, also a Palarong Pambansa 2018 silver medalist, clinched the golds in secondary boys featherwei­ght, secondary boys anyo individual double weapon, secondary boys anyo team double weapon with June Flloyd Malisa, Johnlloyd Christian Cañon, secondary boys anyo team sword and dagger with Christian Dave Cañete and Cañon.

“Gi blessed jud kog taman sa Ginoo then nagpasalam­at pud ko sa support sa akong mga mahal sa buhay labi na akung family, labi na akung ka team (God has blessed me so much. I also thank the support of my loved ones and family and my teammates),” he said.

Unit 1’s other gold medalists: Daphne Mae Bactong (secondary girls bantamweig­ht, individual anyo single weapon), Ivy Jean Andoyo (secondary girls featherwei­ght), Jehan Montante (secondary girls extra lightweigh­t), Melody Rodaje (secondary girls half lighweight, individual double weapon), Vince CJ Tan (secondary boys pinweight), Cañon (secondary boys bantamweig­ht), Deo Jay Liquiran (secondary boys extra lightweigh­t), Zabala (secondary boys half lightweigh­t, anyo individual single weapon), Khim Ubal (secondary girls individual sword and dagger), secondary girls single weapon team, secondary girls team double weapon, secondary boys team sword and dagger and secondary girls team sword and dagger.

Unit 2’s golden finishes were from its secondary boys anyo team single weapon and Bobelle Abelis (secondary girls pinweight).

Awarding is set at 9 a.m. today.
