TRAINING FOR HAIR DRESSING, MASSAGE THERAPY CONDUCTED
Samal LGU also provided starter kits for both hairdressing and massage therapy to the participants on Oct. 22 at the Samal Cultural Gymnasium.
Island Garden City of Samal - The city government here spearheaded by its Public Employment Services Office (PESO) in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) and Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) conducted training for Hair Dressing NCII and Massage Therapy NCII for semi-skilled Samaleño workers.
The training will be able to help the Samaleños become productive and earn additional income, and also to boost the eco-tourism industry of the local communities in the island.
The starter kits for both hairdressing and massage therapy were given last October 22, 2018 at the Samal Cultural Gymnasium, Brgy. Peñaplata, Samal Island.
The training was aimed to create, sustain and retain a viable workforce in order for the community to achieve social and economic prosperity, as well as to help people find job and secure the skilled employees they need for the business enterprises.
It was also an open access to job opportunities by ensuring that all skills training is equally participated by all gender, race, tribes, and ages prioritizing the marginalized group such as outof-school youth (OSY), persons with disabilities (PWD) and Indigenous People (IPs).
Participants of the training came from the 46 barangays of the three districts of the island, namely, Babak, Samal and Kaputian. The starter kit project was through the initiative of City Mayor Al- David T. Uy. /
