Browsing through Facebook an article shared by an older relative of mine, caught my eye. The article read: List of things Millennials are killing.

Before we go on labeling certain ages, contrary to popular belief, high school and some college students are not Millennials. According to the Center of Generational Kinetics, the Generation Z or “iGen” age range starts at 1996 till 2010. This was the year of the Nintendo, cellular phones, and the Internet Explorer. Early iGens were mostly born hand in hand with technology, and all grew along with it.

But with the iGen population old enough to speak their minds, then why are Millennials alone in fighting off baby boomer authors on the internet? If we do the math, the youngest iGens are at the age of seven and the oldest is 21.

An example of this is that some of the biggest influencers of this time are Millennials. Both generations rule social media but Millennials as being the older generation hold the creative control first while iGens look and follow.

The millennial’s growth mixed with their speedy fame through the veracious technology made the first one to be old enough to understand the market of social media while the next generation follow suite.

Despite some influencers are categorized as iGens, they also have Millennials as their inspirations.

Despite all the bad media surrounding Millennials as being self-centered, cocky, and individualistic, this generation is shaping the culture of the future.

Millennials are shaping the iGens to a culture of sensitivity in inclusiveness, and respecting identity, something older generations often do not agree on.

Older generation need to understand more of their younger counterparts as they have lived a much different life than they did, thus, a different viewpoint and philosophy. But this does not mean the wall is not impenetrable.

But time flies rapidly and new generations called Alpha are being born, the Generation Z inch closer to the responsibilities of shaping the next generations. Time will only tell when the tables turn.
