The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Region (Owwa) 11 through its Regional Welfare Office 11 successfully held the Information Caravan and Membership Promotion Campaign last October 20, 2018 at the Atrium, SM Premier, Lanang, Davao City.

It was attended by around 1,000 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), their families, and the general public from the provinces of Davao del Sur, Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental, Compostela Valley Province and from the different barangays in Davao City.

The activity aims to provide the OFWs, their families, stakeholders and the general public with enabling information relative to overseas employment, including Owwa programs and services, which will mitigate the negative impact of migration on their personal and family lives. It also aims to re-introduce Owwa and the people behind the agency, especially the regional officers, to help OFWs and their families feel “closer” and “at ease” with their welfare protectors and assistance providers.

The activity, dubbed as “Kat-OWWA-an” was the first of its kind to be held outside the National Capital Region. It was made possible through the long tested partnership with the SM Supermalls and Banco de Oro (BDO).

In her welcome message, Owwa 11 Regional Director Petrona M. Bergado expressed her gratitude to all the participants who attended the event. She likewise said that the event was the agency’s pro-active response to increase awareness about the Owwa’s programs and services among OFWs, their families, and the general public.

Present during the program were Department of Labor and Employment Undersecretary Renato Ebarle, former DOLE Secretary Marianito D. Roque, former Labor Attache Manuel C. Roldan and Director Vivian Tornea representing Owwa Administrator, Atty. Hans Leo J. Cacdac. /
