SoCot turns over 15 vehicles to brgys

South Cotabato has formally turned over 15 barangay patrol vehicles to identified barangays of the province last October 26.

Led by Governor Daisy P. Avance Fuentes, the provincial government turned over 11 units of twowheel drive and four units of four-wheel drive cargo truck vehicles at the Provincial Capitol Grounds attended by barangay captains and officials from the 15 identified barangay recipients.

These barangays included Ned, Takunel, Tasiman, and Lamcade of Lake Sebu; Teresita, M. Roxas, Panay, and Katipunan of Sto. Nino; Dumaguil and Puti of Norala; Lamba, Rang-ay, and San Vicente of Banga; Lapu of Polomolok; and San Isidro of Tampakan.

The vehicles have a total worth of P5.9 million charged under the Provincial Peace and Order Council Fund, the Barangay Affairs Unit (BAU) reported.

BAU Chief Bong Gamo said the turned over vehicles have an estimated lifespan of six years if maintained well.

Meanwhile, Governor Fuentes has asked barangay officials to take care of the vehicles and reminded them to use it for official businesses only.

The local chief executive added that they are fast-tracking the vehicle purchases to cover all 199 barangays of the province.

Last March 2, the provincial government also distribute­d 16 patrol vehicles to various barangays in the province. /
