All 92 drivers of different terminals in Davao City who underwent a surprise drug test during the inspection conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (Pdea) 11, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) 11 and Land Transportation Office (LTO) 11 on Monday and yesterday yielded negative results.

Pdea 11 Director Antonio Rivera said there were 47 van drivers at SM City Davao; 35 bus drivers at Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT), and 10 van drivers along McArthur Highway, Matina who were tested.

The activity was held to ensure that there are no drivers who are using prohibited drugs and to also ensure the safety of their passengers.

Pdea also assured that this will not be the last surprise drug test that it will be conducting, adding that the activity will be continuous.

In an earlier interview, Rivera said the drug test is part of their UndaSpot: Ligtas Byahe 2018, a surprise inspection to bus and van drivers in the different transport terminals on Monday, October 29, 2018.

The activity was in coordination with Land Transportation Office (LTO), LTFRB, and DCOTT in the effort to make the Undas Season peaceful and safe in Davao City.

Meanwhile, Pdea and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG-Davao), conducted a sweeping activity at the Sta. Ana Pier to inspect the passengers' baggage using K-9 dogs.

"Gusto lang nato nga dili makalusot ang ilegal nga druga sa atong mga pantalan (We don't want illegal drugs to get through our pier)," Rivera said. With reports from Lyka Amethyst H. Casamayor /
