Davnor preps up for TD Samuel

DAVAO DEL NORTE - Local government disaster risk reduction management officers and representa­tives of key national line agencies involved in disaster response convened Monday afternoon, November 19, in an emergency meeting with the Davao del Norte Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO).

Presided by PDRRMO officer-in-charge Glenda Deli-Deli, the emergency meeting sought to know the level of preparatio­ns of each local government unit, life-line agency and each national line agencies with regard to the impact that Tropical Depression Samuel may have in Davao del Norte.

Deli-deli also determined the status of functional­ity of disaster response equipment of LGUs, the supply of relief goods and the status of evacuation centers of LGUs.

During the meeting, PDRRMO had known that LGUs in flood prone areas of Kapalong, New Corella, Asuncion and Talaingod had already dispatched alert advisory on possible flood and landslide that TD Samuel may cause.

On the other hand, PDRRMO is hoisting an “on standby status”, with its equipment and logistics being put on ready, while its operation and admin members of the staff required to report round-theclock starting 9 this morning, Deli-deli said.

She also asked the National Food Authority for status of rice supply; Tagum City Water District for its commitment to supply water in evacuation centers; and the Davao del Norte Electric Cooperativ­e (Daneco) for its readiness and commitment to manage trip offs of power supply in case of occurrence­s of flood.

To beef up status of readiness during disaster, the Provincial Government of Davao del Norte has existing memorandum of agreement (MOA) with NFA Davao del Norte for immediate withdrawal of rice supply and with Buenas Supermarke­t for canned goods and other manufactur­ed food supply. / PIA 11
