Other highlights of the Pasko Fi­esta cel­e­bra­tion of the city gov­ern­ment of Davao are the back-to-back Yu­gyu­gan and Tug­tu­gan sa Pasko 2018 on De­cem­ber 25 and 26, 2018.

Yu­gyu­gan sa Pasko is an elec­tronic dance mu­sic (EDM) street party which will be held on De­cem­ber 25, 2018 at Rizal Park start­ing at 5 p.m.

“We will show­case what is trendy to­day when it comes to mu­sic and light sys­tem,” event or­ga­nizer Con­stan­cio Ar­naiz said yes­ter­day.

Ar­naiz said at­ten­dees dur­ing the past street par­ties or­ga­nized by the city were Dabawenyos who do not have the lux­ury to go to party bars to dance and en­joy.

The street party, how­ever, pro­hibits liquor sell­ing.

“So gi­hata­gan nato og hi­gayon ang katawhan para maka-ex­pe­ri­ence sila og unsa ang trend karong pana­hona. Trendy man ang EDM (We are giv­ing a chance for th­ese peo­ple to ex­pe­ri­ence what is trendy to­day, where EDM is the trend),” he said.

Mean­while, Ar­naiz said that the Tug­tu­gan sa Pasko will be held the fol­low­ing day, still on the same venue.

He fur­ther said that all who will be in­volved in the event, from par­tic­i­pants to judges, will be com­ing from the city so as to show mu­sic ex­pres­sion the Dabawenyo-way.

The rock band com­pe­ti­tion is open to all city-based pro­fes­sional and am­a­teur bands com­pos­ing of four to seven mem­bers. The win­ner will re­ceive P45,000 cash prize, P35,000 for the sec­ond placer, P25,000 for third placer, and 12 con­so­la­tion prizes of P5,000.

“Naa tay top 15 fi­nal­ists na mag­pasik­la­ban on De­cem­ber 26, naa pud tay gi-in­vite na lo­cal band who is a part of the ivory records (We have the top 15 fi­nal­ists who will com­pete with each other on De­cem­ber 26 and we also in­vited one lo­cal band who is part of the ivory records),” he said, adding that in the event, they wanted to show­case the Davao mu­sic in­dus­try.

Yu­gyu­gan will show­case trendy party mu­sic, while Tug­tu­gan will ex­hibit the Davao mu­sic in­dus­try.
