Yugyugan, Tugtugan on Dec 25, 26

Other highlights of the Pasko Fiesta celebratio­n of the city government of Davao are the back-to-back Yugyugan and Tugtugan sa Pasko 2018 on December 25 and 26, 2018.

Yugyugan sa Pasko is an electronic dance music (EDM) street party which will be held on December 25, 2018 at Rizal Park starting at 5 p.m.

“We will showcase what is trendy today when it comes to music and light system,” event organizer Constancio Arnaiz said yesterday.

Arnaiz said attendees during the past street parties organized by the city were Dabawenyos who do not have the luxury to go to party bars to dance and enjoy.

The street party, however, prohibits liquor selling.

“So gihatagan nato og higayon ang katawhan para maka-experience sila og unsa ang trend karong panahona. Trendy man ang EDM (We are giving a chance for these people to experience what is trendy today, where EDM is the trend),” he said.

Meanwhile, Arnaiz said that the Tugtugan sa Pasko will be held the following day, still on the same venue.

He further said that all who will be involved in the event, from participan­ts to judges, will be coming from the city so as to show music expression the Dabawenyo-way.

The rock band competitio­n is open to all city-based profession­al and amateur bands composing of four to seven members. The winner will receive P45,000 cash prize, P35,000 for the second placer, P25,000 for third placer, and 12 consolatio­n prizes of P5,000.

“Naa tay top 15 finalists na magpasikla­ban on December 26, naa pud tay gi-invite na local band who is a part of the ivory records (We have the top 15 finalists who will compete with each other on December 26 and we also invited one local band who is part of the ivory records),” he said, adding that in the event, they wanted to showcase the Davao music industry.

Yugyugan will showcase trendy party music, while Tugtugan will exhibit the Davao music industry.
