SAMAL CELEBRATES CVO DAY WITH RESCUELYMPICS 2018
Igacos holds the Civilian Volunteers Organization Day with Rescuelympics 2018 that aims to train every CVO on what to do during natural calamities.
Island Garden City of Samal - The local government unit here together with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) celebrated Civilian Volunteers Organization (CVO) Day last November 30, 2018 at Samal Cultural Gymnasium, Samal Island.
The 1st Al-David Torres Uy’s Rescuelympics 2018 was also held during the event. Together with the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) rescuers, the rescuelympics was performed by different barangays of Samal Island. The event was aimed to alert the CVOs during natural calamities and be able to help their respective barangays in any catastrophe.
“The role of the barangay officials and the CVOs is to secure the people in your barangay for the safety of the island shores and also the people. The role of the Samaleños is to protect our island, our one and only island because we all know that Samal is one of the tourist places in the Philippines, that is why we must take good care of our beloved Samal Island”, City Mayor Al-David Torres Uy said.
“To all CVOs and Samaleños continue the job that you have started, hopefully we can add more benefits to your respective barangays. And as always you can get help and support from your local government because at the end of the day it is always be the Samaleños that will be helping each other,” he added.
Moreover, the Igacos awarded the winners for the “Search for Pinakamaanyag nga Barangay sa Samal Island”, a program which encourages every barangay to take part and make collective efforts in improving their social services, economic development and environmental management within their respective territorial jurisdiction. /
