The Presidential Communications Operations Office awarded Davao City Water District as the 2018 Freedom of Information (FOI) Champion under the Local Water Districts category for its significant contributions to the FOI Program’s progress and development.
The award was conferred on November 28 at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Manila during the 2018 FOI Awards. It marks DCWD’s second consecutive recognition from the PCOO, the lead agency in the FOI implementation in the Executive Branch.
In December 2017, DCWD was cited as the first water district to go on board the e-FOI portal.
As immediate compliance to Executive Order No. 2 series of 2016, DCWD’s FOI Manuals have been approved for implementation in October 2017.
DCWD also institutionalized its FOI services with the designation of FOI receiving officer, decision maker, and department point persons to ensure appropriate actions on all FOI requests within the standard time.
General manager engineer Edwin V. Regalado thanked the PCOO for recognizing DCWD as among this year’s FOI champions across five categories. He added that more than aiming for recognition, DCWD is committed to uphold transparency in the public service through easy-access to information that may be needed from the agency. /
