UV emerges champion in PCCL Regionals

-

The University of Visayas (UV) Cebu Green Lancers emerged champion in the Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL) Regional Championship held Friday at the Arcadia Lifestyle and Active Fitness Center gym.

The Green Lancers beat Naga Colleges Foundation, 8972, dominating the game from the start.

The Cebuanos could be seen playing as a team as most star players sacrificed their personal gain for the team’s welfare, giving the ball to only those who are either near the basket or those who could break free from Naga’s defense.

Josue Segumpan erupted with 26 points as Gileant Delator added 19. Jancork Cabahug and Michael Maestre each scored 10 points.

Rey Suerte, who scored

21 in the first of their best-ofthree finals, made nine points while import Bassuero Sackor was limited to four baskets. But the latter was a formidable force in defense.

Naga’s Emanuel Ojoula led NCF with 15 points.

Suerte was hailed most valuable player of the league.
