'GOES TO SCHOOL'
Davao City Water District, through its 'Goes to School Project' promotes environment protection to its scholars at Boss Carreon Event Hall in Malagos to end the city's Water Consciousness Month celebration in November.
Davao City Water District, through the 18th DCWD Goes to School Project, promoted environment protection to 100 Tulong Aral ng DCWD scholars on November 29, 2018 at Boss Carreon Event Hall in Malagos to cap Davao City's Water Consciousness Month celebration in November.
The activity which was part of the learning and development component of the scholarship program was participated in by grade six student achievers from Malagos Elementary Sped School and Baguio, Baracayo, Bartolome, Cadalian, Gatungan, Gumalang, Lacson, Malalan, Marilog, Quezon, Tambobong, Tamugan, Tawan-Tawan, Tungkalan, and Wines elementary schools.
Topics discussed were Davao City's watersheds, water cycle, water conservation, and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WaSH).
DCWD's Community Relations and External Affairs Department officer-in-charge Ruth G. Jabines explained that the activity strengthens the partnership of DCWD with the scholars especially on advocating for watershed protection and rehabilitation.
All students and teachers were given knapsacks, water bottles, bookmarks, and other information, education, and communication materials bearing various environment protection and water conservation messages. Teachers were also given posters on the importance of trees, watershed, and water cycle and conservation as additional instructional materials.
Davao City's Water Consciousness Month is an annual celebration with DCWD as the lead agency as declared by former Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte through Proclamation No. 12 issued on September 27, 2001. /
