Mayor Uy urges homeowners’ association members to plan and coordinate amid Urban Poor Solidarity Week celebration.
Samal - The City Housing Division of the City Planning Office spearheaded an activity in celebration of the Urban Poor Solidarity Week in Babak Multi-purpose Gym on Friday, December 7, 2018.
A total of 28 homeowner associations from the city’s three districts gathered and joined the parade wearing colorful shirts representing their respective association.
The annual activity aims to show the unity and make the urban poor residents feel they were given priority and importance by the local government.
With this year’s theme: “Bayanihan-lunas sa Kahirapan: Building Partnership for Climate Resilience and Good Governance”, it emphasizes the cooperation between the urban poor and the government thereby expanding and strengthening public-private partnership against poverty in identified urban poor communities.
“We have sitio electrification and water program, just establish the plan and coordinate to the local government so that we can assist you according to your needs,” Mayor Al David T. Uy said.
During the celebration, members of the association participate in the parlor games contests. Prizes and recognition for those winners and a certificate of participation were also given to the participating groups.
Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP) - Field Operation Division for Mindanao, Area Supervising Coordinator Marilou A. Tarona graced the event./
