City to get P8.8-B budget in 2019
The city council of Davao approved the P8.8 billion annual budget of the city for 2019.
During the suspended rules last Wednesday, December 12, 2018, Councilor Diosdado Angelo Mahipus, on behalf of committee on finance, ways and means and appropriations chair Councilor Danilo Dayangahirang, presented the said annual budget under general fund, economic enterprises and annual development fund.
The general fund proper generated a total of P7,421,665,028.
The economic enterprises composed of operation of markets which generated P101,640,603; operation of slaughterhouses with P16,351,831; operation of Sta. Ana port with P2,254,344; operation of Davao City Recreation Center (DCRC) with P4,135,648; operation of cemeteries with P5,401,034; and operation of Pasalubong Center with P1,692,395.
While the annual development fund generated a total of P1,300,520,120.
The said funds are appropriated out by the City Treasurer’s Office from the city’s operation income of the city from January 1 to December 31, 2018.
When Dayanghirang proposed the annual budget fund last November 27, 2018, he said the city may reach P12 billion annual budget for 2022 with the increasing number of investors coming in the city.
He also told reporters that the budget of the city should go higher as the population of the city gets higher every year so as the demand of services.
