An ordinance prescribing the rates and charges to be imposed at the Davao Food Terminal Complex (DFTC) has been approved by the 18th city council yesterday, February 29, 2019.

The approved rates and charges to be implemented are parking fee, space or stall rental fee, washing fees for products, fees for commodities, dormitory fee, and training hall rental fee.

The specified space rental fee will be P12 for every one square meter a day.

City Agriculturist’s Office (CAO) head Leo Brian Leuterio told reporters yesterday that the opening date of the DFTC at Barangay Daliao in Toril will be tentatively on March 15.

He said farmers will benefit from the said complex by actively trading of agricultural products in a regular market at a competitive price.

“Inig deliver sa farmers sa ilahang goods paliton na dayon nila and they will take responsibility to market it for a certain price adjustment (The moment farmers deliver their goods, the farmer groups will buy and take the responsibility of selling them with certain price adjustments),” Leuterio said.

“At least ang atong farmers dili na maghulat tibuok adlaw didto, sunod hangyuon pa sila pag-abot alas-singko sa hapon, mubo ra kaayo ang presyo. So mao na atong gina-try og avoid diha (At least the famers will not have to wait for the entire day and later be asked for discount. That is what we are trying to avoid),” he added.

The imposition of fees will be collected from every person that shall transact at the Davao Food Terminal Complex. It is a way to ensure DFTC’s orderly operations.

The complex was established in partnership with the Department of Agriculture (DA).
