Long weekend in March

Following the declaratio­n of March 18, 2019, Monday, as a special (non-working) day in Davao City, Dabawenyos will have a long weekend.

Stated in the proclamati­on no. 675 series of 2019 that Dabawenyos will be given the opportunit­y to participat­e in the celebratio­n of its Araw ng Pasasalama­t on March 18, as part of the celebratio­n of the 82nd Araw ng Davao.

Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea signed the proclamati­on on February 19 and was officially published in the Official Gazatte on February 22.

Meanwhile, Davao City Vice Mayor Bernard Al-ag said in an online interview that Dabawenyos should participat­e in the activities prepared by the city government.

“I invite all the Dabawenyos to join the city government in celebratin­g Araw ng Davao, the birthday of our city,” he said.

“We prepared various activities and events for all. Lastly, let us spend time with our families during this long weekend,” he added.

Among highlights of the 82nd Araw ng Davao are the pageants for Mutya ng Davao on March 2; Ginoong Davao on March 3, and Reyna Davaoeña on March 8.

A light show will also entertain the Dabawenyos on March 1 to 16 at the City Hall.

Hudyaka will be on March 9 at the People’s Park while Kanta Bidabaweny­o is on March 16 at the Rizal Park.
