Safety and security is always the first and foremost priority in any hospitality establishments.

The premier hotel in the city, Marco Polo Davao (MPD) recently conducted an emergency and evacuation drill last February 17, 2019. The drill was facilitated by MPD's security department using the Incident Command System (ICS) format and was evaluated by its local partner agencies such as the Public Safety and Security Command Center, Task Force Davao, Central 911, Office of the Civil Defense, Philippine Red Cross, CB Bangoy Sr. Fire Station and Davao City Police Office.

“We invest not just money of our stakeholders to hire quality and well-trained security personnel and equipment but we also have invested time to train everyone to be prepared in times of calamity or man-made disaster,” said MPD's Director of Security Francis Suan.

While prioritizing the safety and security of the establishment, Marco Polo Davao also makes sure that guests will feel at ease whenever they enter the premises. The hotel has multiple levels of security to make sure to screen people especially those who intend to inflict danger or harm to others. The hotel employs all various forms of security from metal detectors to security cameras, walk through and frisking.

PSSCC Head Officer Angel Sumagaysay and Task Force Davao Head Col. Nolasco Mempin appreciated the hotel's initiative to conduct emergency drills annually. They also rated the drill as very successful.

Marco Polo Davao is the first hotel in Davao to acquire a baggage security scanner and Under Vehicle Inspection System (UVIS) as an addition to its heightened security measures for its guests.

Last year, the hotel had its first batch of graduates of the Basic K9 Dog Handling and Explosives Detection In-house Training. To date, Marco Polo Davao has a total of eight efficient K9 Dog Handlers since 2004 and five K9 who are still active in service. One of hotel's Labrador retriever named Tabasco, topped the Mindanao-wide K9 examination in 2016. /
