DOTR RE-STUDYING HOMEOWNERS’ REQUEST
The group requested DOTr to go back to the previous alignment proposal of passing through Monteritz’s Town Plaza
Department of Transportation (DOTr) Assistant Secretary Eymard Eje said they are now re-studying the Mindanao Railway Project (MRP) realignment request of the Monteritz Classic Estates Homeowners Association, Inc. (MCEHAI).
Eje said yesterday in a text message that the group requested them to go back to the previous alignment proposal of passing through the Town Plaza, an ongoing one-hectare commercial development, but they have to discuss on this request with their project consultants.
“The only thing that I want to say at this point is that, if we want development, we must face the sacrifices that entail the steps towards attaining that development,” Eje said.
“It is selfish to ask and enjoy the benefits of development without sacrificing a little of your own,” he added.
Last February 25, MCEHAI president Jesito Villamor said they will exhaust all legal means if their appeal for the realignment will not be considered as it will affect 40 homeowners and 67 lot owners.
In a phone interview with Sunstar Davao yesterday, Villamor said they are still having their discussions on the possible legal actions to be taken if the DOTr will remain stubborn on their request.
“We are just talking about the possibilities. As far as filing the case, wala pa tayo sa punto na ‘yun. Naghahanap pa tayo ng way kung ano pa ang pwedeng magawa para sa realignment,” Villamor said.
He added that they have been holding on to what the DOTr told them that nothing will be finalized yet without proper consultation.
“We are trying to find the best avenue to settle this,” he said.
Villamor said that their community is not against the development; however, everyone agreed that the alignment of the railway should be outside the subdivision.
