The 2nd Davao International Marathon 2019 draws a total of 1,600 runners
Some 1,600 runners will race for honors in the 2nd Davao International Marathon slated March 10 at the People's Park in Davao City.
Dabawenyo organizer Roel Ambano Ano of Davao Ultrarunners Club (DUC), in a Facebook interview with SunStar Davao yesterday, said the runners will come from 198 running teams.
“One Kenyan male runner confirmed to join the men's 42K along with top local bets Elmer Bartolo and Aslan Pagay while Ruffa Sorongon, Emely Avergonzado and Olive Fermiza will compete in women's 42K,” Ano said in the vernacular.
Cash prizes of P15,000, P10,000 and P8,000 await the male and female 42K top three finishers while the male and female 21K first three placers will take home P10,000, P8,000 and P5,000.
The top three male and female 10K runners, meanwhile, receive P6,000, P4,000 and P3,000 even as cash prizes of P4,000, P3,000 and P2,000 will be awarded to the first thee winners of the male and female 5K categories.
The race, powered by Taiwan Excellence, is part of the Araw ng Davao 2019 Sports Festival presented by the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office under officer-in-charge Mikey Aportadera. It is also supported by the Davao City Tourism Operations Office (DCTOO).
