The National Private Schools Athletic Association (Prisaa) Games 2019 officially kicked off yesterday. This is the first time Davao City is hosting the event since it was founded in 1953.

Organizers said 5,249 athletes will be competing in Prisaa Games 2019. Together with other officials, coaches, chaperones, parents, and visitors, we can expect over 7,000 individuals who will be part of the national games.

To our athletes from Davao City and the rest of Davao Region, we are wishing you all the best as you compete with other talented athletes from other schools in the country. Always give it your best shot when competing.

To athletes coming from other areas in the country, we welcome you to Davao City! Likewise give your best shot in the events you are competing. Also, do not forget to look around and visit some of the tourist spots within and near Davao City.

As for us Dabawenyos, let us give our athletes all our support, whether by our presence in the venues or through sending them encouraging messages. Let us also welcome our visitors with open arms and give them the best we have to offer.

For our visitors, while we want to enjoy your stay in Davao City, please be reminded that rules are rules here. We at SunStar Davao, have uploaded a video on some of the rules in Davao City that visitors tend to forget.

Prisaa Games 2019 is not simply a sporting event where athletes will compete to be declared the winner. It is an event that showcases the talents of young Filipino athletes and one that shows unity among many Filipinos.

With the successful staging of the Davao Region Athletic Association (Davraa) Games 2019 and the Palarong Pambansa 2019, we can also expect a successful staging of the Prisaa Games 2019 in Davao City.
