Tagum ABC prexy tests positive of Covid-19

TAGUM City Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) president, who visited New Matina Davao Gallera on March 10 and 12, revealed that he is a “presumptive positive case” for coronavirus disease (Covid-19), as revealed in his local laboratory test result administered by Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC).

On Thursday evening, March 26, Tagum City Councilor and Apokon Barangay Captain Bryan Kim Samuel Angoy announced on his Facebook account his current health condition that he may have contracted the highly-infectious disease.

He said that based on the initial laboratory result from SPMC, his swab samples tested positive for Covid-19. But he added that it will undergo revalidation at the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) in Manila for confirmation.

Angoy is currently confined at Davao Regional Medical Center (DRMC) in Tagum City.

The barangay captain had already coordinated with the contact tracing team of the Department of Health (DOH) regarding his activities to caution those he had in close contact with to be advised to implement self-quarantine.

He also apologized to the people he had interacted with between March 12 and 13 while he was doing his duty as barangay chairman before President Rodrigo Duterte urged the public to observe social distancing. But he said that by March 14, he just stayed at his home.

Angoy further clarified that on March 10 and 12, he went to Matina, Davao City. But it was only on March 13 when they received a directive that all those who attended the Philippine Councilors League (PCL) on February 26 to 28 must undergo self-quarantine after a councilor from Tayasan, Negros Oriental tested positive.

From the time he traveled to Manila for that event, he did not manifest signs and symptoms and already completed his quarantine period.

But on March 22, he experienced fever. He heeded the protocol and informed the City Government of Tagum and the Tagum City Health Office (CHO) head of Covid-19 team of his medical history.

He was referred to a private hospital on the same day. He further narrated that by 10 p.m. on that day, his family informed him of the news coming from the City Government of Davao advising those who went to the New Matina Davao Gallera from March 6 to March 13, to be on a strict 14-day quarantine. /
