FOOD PACKS SET FOR DISTRIBUTION IN DAVOR
DAVAO ORIENTAL - More or less 195,000 families all over the province are set to receive food packs in the next few days from the provincial government and local government units in response to the effect of the community quarantine being implemented in the whole province.
A joint effort of the provincial government, municipalities and the city government, the distribution of the food packs hopes to ease the burden of the residents, especially those whose livelihoods are drastically affected due to the threat of Covid-19.
Per the recent arrangement for the first round of distribution, the province will shoulder 50 percent of the entire requirement while the municipalities and city will take charge of the remaining 50 percent of the required food packs for their respective constituents.
To date, food packs are being prepared by the LGUs. Some workforce from the province are also helping in the packing of food packs for the highly populated City of Mati.
Meanwhile, the City Government of Davao through Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio is also donating food packs to the province. The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), on the other hand, has also readied 3,000 food packs which will be augmented in the next few days.
As agreed during the meeting this morning, proper coordination will be done with the LGUs to ensure that there will be no physical contact among the residents and those who will facilitate the distribution.
For the distribution, the barangay officials through the purok officials are tasked to produce the list of the residents and distribute the food packs to them. Residents are advised to wait for further announcements as to the schedule of the distribution and to heed further instructions from their respective barangay officials.
The Provincial Government appeals to everyone to be patient and follow the protocols for the smooth distribution.
