A BOOK which exposes the communist movement and its front organizations was launched on April 28, 2022 at Sunny Point in Maa, Davao City.

The book was authored by a group of former communist rebels and is a compendium of the authors’ first-hand accounts and analysis of the insurgent organization.

“Very often we understand and analyze the enemy according to our own limited experiences and therefore we arrive at the wrong conclusions. A proper understanding of the Communist Terrorist Group viewpoints contained in its ideology can help us overcome such shortcomings,” reads the joint statement of the former communist cadres.

Among those present in the book launch was one of the book authors, Joy James Saguino who was the former secretary of the New People’s Army Guerrilla Front 20 operating in Southern Mindanao. Saguino surrendered to the government in 2017.

“This book is our way of redeeming ourselves for all the things and for all the people that we let suffer as a result of our participation in the so-called people’s war,” Saguino said.

Saguino (Ka Amihan) is joined by former cadres Jake Llanes (Ka Elmo), Eric Celiz (Ka Eric), Noel Legaspi (Ka Efren), Rey Christian Sabado (Ka Nads) and Ivy Lyn Corpin (Ka Red) in writing the 552- page book.

“Our expose is not based on vengeance or anger towards our former comrades nor of our former organization but borne of our love to who we are once, the Filipino Youth where we all started,” the authors in a joint statement said.

“Unmasking: The Myth of Communism in the Philippines will be made available nationwide through the National Research and Strategic Support Group. /
